Point Reyes

Windswept headlands, tule elk, and miles of empty beaches on the wild side of Marin. One of the best close-to-home escapes for a first night in the rooftop tent.

Trail Notes

  • Alamere Falls is a 13-mile round trip — start early and pack lunch
  • Tule elk at Tomales Point are most active at dusk
  • It runs 20°F colder than inland — bring layers even in July
  • Park camping is hike-in only; car camp at Samuel P. Taylor State Park nearby
  • Finish the day with oysters on Tomales Bay
